The other love of my life

For a long time my daughter said she wasn’t having children so when I was blessed with the Viktor Monster on July 15, 2012, I was ecstatic. I had resigned myself to having to wait on my son (which might be a long wait since he doesn’t even have a girlfriend) to meet “the one” so the little man’s appearance into the world made me so happy. I had no idea that being a grandparent would be so different than being a parent. He is amazing and wonderful, this child of my child. He makes me feel both young and old at the same time. I love him with all my heart. I wish I could give him the world. I wish I could help my daughter more, but all I have to pass on is what I’ve learned as a person. As a parent myself. Hopefully, my daughter will not make the mistakes I made and will have learned from being raised by a single parent (divorced right after her 2nd birthday, and my son’s 5th). Being a single parent is one of the toughest jobs out there, but I’m proud of her–she’s a great mom. I try to tell her that every chance I get.
